2021 | plaster waste mold, concrete, acrylic paint, faux flowers, glitter
Bloom is a monument to regrowth. Times of hardship can chip away at your identity, leaving holes in your sense of self. However, while you may never regain these lost parts, new and beautiful things can grow in their place. The juxtaposition between the somber concrete form and colorful surface decoration reflects this.

This piece was a collaboration with a classmate. We created an armature  and sculpted the main form out of clay, then coated it in a plaster waste mold. We cleaned out the mold and poured in a concrete mixture. After the concrete solidified, we removed it from the mold and painted the serious form with high-contrast stripes. we added glitter around the holes to emphasize them, and added faux flowers to the largest of the holes.
