Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon that creates a mental link between two senses. A common form of it known as Chromesthesia, wherein sounds evoke colors and shapes, serves as inspiration for this piece. I based it on the song “Sugar Pills” by I Don’t How But They Found Me, disregarding the colors in the songs and instead focusing on bringing the shapes into three dimensions.
Fascination relies entirely on paper, with precise cutting and gluing being important. This was a new technique for me, and while it was difficult to work with at times, particularly when trying to create rounded objects, I found that it resulted in a unique and compelling visual style.
