Video performance | 2020
People like having goals, perhaps even more than they like achieving them. "Reach for the Stars" depicts the slightly absurd but very human tendency to quickly get tired of success in favor of chasing after a new, more distant future.
Preparation for this performance included the creation of several paper mache planets, which I hung from the rafters of an arbor. I had a vague idea of how I wanted the performance to play out but did not write a script, resulting in several variant takes. I chose the best one to edit in Premiere Pro, speeding up the footage to add to the hyper active energy of the performance.
